The Douglas X-3 is a 1/64 Revell kit originally issued in the 1950’s and reissued periodically. The finish is Model Master gloss white polished to a smooth appearance. The wings are covered in Bare Metal foil. The wheel wells were opened up through the fuselage as shown in photos of the real aircraft at the Air Force Museum. Engine exhaust cones were added to replace the flat disks on the kit. By: Ed Wahl On May 22, 1939, Field Marshal Hermann Goring wore his black ceremonial uniform for the signing of the “Pact of Steel” military alliance between Germany and Italy. He also was depicted in a full-color artist’s portrait in this uniform. This is a 120mm Verlinden resin kit sculpted to reflect the Field Marshal’s reviewing of troops in Austria in 1938 (from a photo). By: Ed Wahl The Aurora kit of the Moon Bus from the classic film 2001: A Space Odyssey is shown both open and closed. Issued only once, this kit is highly sought on the collector’s market. The model was painted with Railroad Colors bottle paints. The kit’s front window glass is inaccurate because it was not used on the movie miniature. The glass should be on the inside window frame in front of the cockpit instrument panel. The interior colors of the cabin are guesses because the film’s lighting was in a blue/green tint that distorted actual colors. The cockpit was painted from published color still publicity photos. By Ed Wahl The 1-32 Monogram kit of the 1969 Chevy Nova is shown as it might look 25 years later when an overeager restoration begins with new chrome wheels and white-letter tires while the rest of the car is rusted out and a little bent. The interior seats are torn and need replacement. The body was painted with Model Master flat yellow and dry-brushed with various weathering and rust colors. A Dremel router bit from behind created the holes in the body. A shot of Dullcote on the glass created the dirty look. By Ed Wahl Leave a comment Type in the text displayed above Send Comment
