Supermarine Spitfire F.Mk.IXc : HasegawaSale!
Supermarine Spitfire F.Mk.IXc : 1:48 scale
The Spitfire F.Mk.IXc possessed one of the most versatile Spitfire wing gun arrangements by having what is known as a “c” wing. The “c” wing was two 20mm cannons and four .303 machine guns. It was also known as the universal wing because the guns could be changed in different configurations depending upon the mission requirements. For unescorted enemy bomber interdiction missions, four 20mm cannons and four .303 machine guns would be fitted to bring maximum firepower against the enemy. For air supremacy missions the “c” wing would possess its normal configuration. This excellent model kit by Hasegawa is depicted as a RAF squadron flown by pilots of Polish origin. The Poles were among some of the highest scoring pilots in the WWII RAF due to their hatred of the enemy and their willingness to fly in close to enemy aircraft before opening fire.
