Previously owned book with minor water spotting. Book has been read extensively and shows minor weathering. Nevertheless, the photography is excellent with many black & white and many color pics in this hardcover book. Many rare pics of unique pre-war and WWII era vehicles and trucks. Whereas, this book is not gift quality- but for the money- it is a very good value! Interesting photographic eye candy to say the least!

Panzer 38t/Swiss LTL-H Walk Around: By Hans-Heiri Stapfer
Panzer 38t/Swiss LTL-H Walk Around in Color: By Hans-Heiri Stapfer
The Panzerkampfwagen 38 (tschechisch) – Armored Combat Vehicle 38 (Czech) was one of the most important tanks in the Wehrmacht arsenal in the first half of WWII. Originally produced near Prague as a light tank LT vz. 38 – Lehký Tank vzor 38, the vehicle along with its manufacturing plant were appropriated by the Germans after their occupation of Czechoslovakia in 1939. Rechristened as the German name Pz.Kpfw.38(t), the vehicle saw action in the Polish and French campaigns and took part in the invasion of the Soviet Union during the summer of 1941. The relentless flow of redoubtable Soviet T-34 tanks soon made the Panzer 38(t) obsolete, however, forcing its withdrawal from front-line duties on the Ostfront in early 1942. The vehicle continued to serve in anti-partisan operations, and there were still 229 Panzer 38(t)s in active service with the German Army in September 1944. A few even confronted the Western Allies during their advance into the Third Reich late in the war. Illustrated with over 300 photographs, color art, and profiles. 80 pages.

Heuschrecke IV 10.5cm Auf Waggentrager: Trumpeter
Heuschrecke IV 10.5cm Auf Waggentrager IVb “Grasshopper”: 1:35 scale
The German high command wanted a self-propelled howitzer that retained the ability to dismount the cannon and use it as towed artillery. Considerable effort over a number of years by a variety of firms went into this objective, however none were considered true successes. Krupp’s attempt to solve this problem involved mounting a 10.5cm light field howitzer on an extensively modified Hummel chassis. The engine and cooling system were moved to the rear of the vehicle, in positions much as they were on the Panzerkampfwagen IV. A new glacis and superstructure was fabricated by Stahlindustrie and then installed by Krupp. This design became known as the Heuschrecke IV 10.5cm Auf Waggentrager. or in English, the 10.5 centimeter “Grasshopper” self propelled artillery.

The Panther was developed for the German Army more than 50 years ago. It was one of the most efficient and famous vehicles of WWII. It was created together with the well-known tank mark VI Tiger. This tank entered service in 1943 supporting the Mark IV tanks, which had difficulties to oppose the onslaught of Soviet T-34 tanks on the Eastern front.
