B-1A SAC Bomber: Minicraft
B-1A, SAC Bomber, Test Camo, Prototype: 1:144 scale
The B-1A Strategic Air Command aircraft was designed to replace the aging B-52 Stratofortress as a supersonic heavy bomber capable of delivering a nuclear payload. However, after a lengthy development program, the B-1A was never deployed and cancelled in 1977 due to rising costs and increased vulnerability to improving Soviet defensive systems. The B-1A continued to serve long after the program was cancelled and served as a test bed for the new B-1B. The B-1B while physically similar to the B-1A it was not capable of supersonic flight although it offered significant improvements in payload and avionics over the B-1A. This plastic assembly kit includes 2 marking options, the USAF prototype and a Strategic Air Command B-1B test program markings.

USAF B-52H “Cold War” Stratofortress: Minicraft
USAF B-52H “Cold War” Stratofortress: 1:144 scale
The B-52 Stratofortress is an eight-engine strategic jet bomber designed to replace the ten engine piston/ jet powered B-36 Peacemaker. The B-36 was powered by six huge piston engines and four additional jet engines. The B-36 Peacemaker had several design limitations that the B-52 did not have. One: the B-36 was not air refuelable, but the B-52 Stratofortress was air refuelable. And two: the B-36 was relatively slow when compared to the all jet powered B-52. The original specification of the B-52 was for intercontinental nuclear deterrence but it was adapted to the conventional bombing mission during the Vietnam conflict.
